SUMMARY OF DUTIES: 
Introduction:  The primary function of this position is to provide appropriate developmental care and supervision of Youth and Teen in the Children, Youth and Teen Program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent ensures that care is provided in compliance with child development standards as outlined in applicable regulations. Responsible for planning and conducting an effective youth and teen program to meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each youth based upon goals stated by the program manager. Reviews and implements daily schedules and activity plans, and briefs lower graded employees.  Arranges room and activity materials to accommodate the daily schedule.  Sets up displays and bulletin boards. Monitors and maintains supplies and ensures that supplies are in good status.  Assists with developing a list of needed supplies and equipment for submission to the supervisor. Maintains an accurate count of youth in their charge. Conducts daily health checks of youth.  Notifies the supervisor or Center Director of any marks or other signs that might indicate a suspicion of illness, abuse, or neglect. Creates a pleasant, inviting atmosphere for youth and teens.  Ensures the safety and sanitation of youth through supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, etc. Completes and submits required reports in an accurate and timely manner.  Assists program manager with developing and implementing marketing and sponsorship ideas including maintaining proper reports. Coordinates appropriate activities and experiences to foster positive self-esteem and community enrichment, and leadership skills. Interacts with youth during programmed activities.  Uses approved guidance and discipline techniques to support overall program objectives. Keep parents and management informed of activities going on in the program. Serves as leader to a staff of youth and teem program assistants with responsibility for the operation of the activity and program in accordance with applicable regulations. Relays instructions from the supervisor and gets the work started in accordance with the daily activity plan. Demonstrates proper work methods and provides work-related guidance to subordinates.  Conducts on-the-job training and instruction. Ensures that employees follow security, safety, health, and other required rules.  Keeps program manager informed with concerns and potential problems. Accompany youth and teens on field trips, overnight trips, and community projects. Develop and implement a plan to support the rollout and ongoing participation of Boys and Girls Club activities and programs. Performs other related duties as may be assigned. The incumbent performs duties under the general supervision of the Center Director or other designated supervisor.  Assistance and guidance is available, but the incumbent has responsibility of developing, implementing, evaluating and improving youth and teen activities.  Incumbent is expected to use initiative and creativity in accomplishing goals and objectives. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  A minimum of two years experience within child care or child development and completion of all training requirements for GSE-03 and GSE-04; or a child development associate credential (CDA); or an AA degree in child development or a related field.  Must have the ability to obtain or possess a valid California State driver’s license.  Must successfully complete and pass a National Agency Clearance background check and health checks.  Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.   Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Must be able to commute to work during winter snow months.
