Summary of Duties:
The incumbent assists the Director of Child Development Home (CDH) in the supervisory, administrative and technical management, development and execution of the total CDC program. The focus point of this position is to develop and supervise a comprehensive Youth and Teen Program. Keep the programs within current regulations and is responsible for interviewing, selections of new employees, assignments, promotions, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, leave, termination of employees, and personnel actions. Has direct supervisory responsibilities for both nonappropriated and civil service employees. Responsible for assigning, scheduling, coordinating, directing and reviewing the staff. Ensures that sufficient staff is available to meet the operational requirements. Prepares and submits weekly time cards and maintains written work schedules for all employees. Ensures that all employees comply with current health regulations. Ensures that all accidents are immediately reported. Ensures compliance with current directives regarding the financial status of the center. Ensures that all monies are maintained in a safe and secure place. In accordance with current directives, submits all purchase requests for all property items, operational requirements and supplies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a Baccalaureate degree in Youth Recreation, Child Development, Early Childhood Education (ECE), Home Economics (Early Childhood emphasis), Elementary Education, Child Care Administration, Special Education with a concentration in Early Childhood, or other degree appropriate to the position to be filled or, specialized experience plus a minimum of 24 semester hours of course work in a major mentioned above. Must have successfully completed the Red Cross Multimedia First Aid Course (or equivalent), CPR training, strangulation prevention training and carry current certification cards for each. Must meet current health and sanitation requirements. Must be skilled in interpersonal relations and be skilled in working with employees, parents, children, visitors and high-ranking officials. Must have the ability to solve patron complaints, explain and enforce regulations in a fair, equitable and diplomatic manner.
Must be able to commute to work during winter snow months.
